My sculptures are indicative of a process of investigation, where composed, forced relationships are the focus. The examination of the interaction between forms leads to questions about the nature of the relationship; is it symbiotic, is there a dominating force, does time change the balance between forms… I am intrigued by the idea of containment, for protection or restriction, to support growth or to prevent it.

Materials play an important role in the work bringing different associations and connotations to bear, affecting the content of the forms represented. The pairing of specific natural and industrial elements is used as a personal investigation of gender identity forced onto both materials and forms. These gender associations are meant to affect the relationship, adding depth to the inquiry.
